The Mole

Talpa europaea

We carry out mole control in Somerset & Devon.

The Mole is an insectivore who's diet consists of earthworms and various other invertebrates such as slugs and other insect larvae that may fall into their tunnels.

Moles are solitary in their habits and live nearly all their lives below ground and very rarely do they come to the surface as they are very poorly equipped to deal with the dangers when they do.

Small and stoutly built moles have strong muscular shoulders and huge front spade like paws in comparison the the rest of their body Small eyes giving poor vision but well capable of detecting light.

The mole patrols its tunnel systems continuously in its activity periods of four and half hours with then three and a half hours rest.

Signs of Moles.

Not a hard question , Molehills ! freshly dug excavations of earth, which if looking at this page you know already. Although not necessarily a problem they can become unsightly or if you have stock such as horses potentially dangerous.

We use traditional mole trapping techniques employing a range of traps dependant on the situation. We do not use gassing techniques as these are normally ineffective.
