Evidence of Rat burrows
Rat "Runs"
As Rats tend to use the same routes once they have found their way around you can often see very defined "Runs" these are some very obvious ones.
Evidence of Rat damage from Gnawing.
Damage to doors caused by Rats
Damage to a farm feed loft.
The next series of photos shows a farm feed loft where rats have caused extensive damage, note also the dark brown "Smear" marks caused by the grease from their bodies showing a "Heavy" infestation.
A dry toilet.
This toilet was found behind an old boarded up outshed which backed onto a property, the client had problems with rats gaining access into the kitchen ceiling. The brown mark is caused by grease from the rats bodies and the floor was about an inch deep in Rat droppings. We removed the toilet and blocked the drain pipe, cleaned and disinfected the area. No more rats since.
Evidence of rats licking windows for water
As we know rats need twice as much water as they do food. These pictures show where rats have licked the condensation from the window
Knot gnawing.
We know rats need to gnaw, but they also appear to love gnawing at knots in wood perhaps its the sap which they are after, no one has yet managed to tell us if this is true.
Damage to a water tank.
Rats had gnawed into this water tank to gain access to a drinking supply.
Ever thought do I have rats in the loft ? Remember as a kid being told not to drink the water from the bathroom tap !
A litter of rats found in a corrugated shed lining.
Rat droppings.
A broken sewage downpipe.
This series of pictures shows where a sewage drainpipe has sunken and the joint has broken apart. It was situated beneath a patio, on our recommendation the patio was taken up. Rats were emerging from the sewage pipe and digging beneath the house and then gaining further access inside the house.Pipe fixed no more rats!
Misc
Staddle Stones.
These pictures are of an old Grain house stood on staddle stones, these are the mushroom shaped stones you can see, the idea being rats could not climb up and then around the overhang of the stone. You see these stones both old and new copies made of concrete usedas garden ornaments everywhere you go. Now you know what they are !
Hornets
Wasp Nests
Honey Bees
